Recently I have come across a post by Grace Bonney at DesignSponge.com about mirrored subway tiles for bathroom with pink detailing. The author mentioned about the elegance of the pink subway tiles and the pink flooring.

She mentioned in the post, “In an email I got last week from The Color Flooring Company (promoting that pretty pink flooring above), I noticed some mirrored subway tiles that I quickly became obsessed with.” It was evident that she has a liking of the pink flooring and the mirrored subway tiles that she witnessed through a promotional email.

What I liked about the post is that the author also mentioned about the possible problem with these tiles, without being biased about the good looks only. I quite agree with the suggestion of the author where she says that if it is used minimally, it can add to the sophistication of bathroom decor.

Flooring and wall decoration should be catchy to grab the attention with just one look. Mirrored subway tiles bathroom is a perfect setting for the elegant. With pink detailing throughout the floor and wall, the appeal is just sophisticated.

1930 – Style Tudor House – Classic Appeal With Contemporary Ease

I really liked reading the post called “A Hollywood Classic” by Ian Phillips at ElleDecor.com. Max Mutchnick and Erik Hyman updated their Tudor house’s picture on the website, which is designed in the 1930s fashion. The design appears as a great mix of West Coast sophistication, assorted antiques and modern amenities.

This Tudor styled house in Beverly Hills and its previous owner was Pete Sampras. The property has a championship court, where Sampras used to practice tennis during the best time of his career.

“It’s tragically underused. In the shadow of Mr. Sampras, we don’t feel worthy. Today, the court serves another athletic purpose, as a tricycle racetrack for the couple’s three-year-old twin daughters, Evan and Rose,” Mutchnick admits.

As Sampras no longer part of this property, the owners still feel his presence, especially on the court, which is now a racetrack for kids of Max and Eric.

Presently, the property is renovated by William Shapiro, a famous landscape designer. The backyard with tropical garden, oval pool and big old trees is a big attraction of the property. The house now boasts classic appeal with all the contemporary features.

What Could be the Must-Have Features for your Room

I am a regular visitor of justagirlblog.com and I recently read a post by Chris called the “The Must List: The Inspired Room”. The author himself seems inspired by the blogs and lovely photos about room decoration.

I love to live in a room that makes me feel happy and thus the surrounding things must be able to make me smile or bring my memories alive. The author speaks about the fondness of reading Pinterest and magazines to get inspiration. Apart from the magazines, TV shows and blogs on home decoration are also inspirational.

I also check these references to get idea about the best suitable decoration for my room. In fact, I can spend hours on finding the fact that why a certain picture or idea has inspired me.

Over the years, I have realized the fact that living life is the best source of inspiration. In fact, the same feeling is also mentioned by the author where he says, “While I love seeking out pretty things to look at, no single resource inspires me more than simply LIVING life. I’m so much more creative when I’m offline.”

I think my creative energy gets a bit lost when I surf internet for idea. Though it is my personal preference as many people find internet as the best resource. You might be amazed to know that I don’t have fetish for trendy stuffs for my room decoration.

What I like is traveling and gathering experiences of different inspirational things. I do travel a lot with my family and it gives me a new meaning of life. Every time I come back from a tour, I add something to my room decoration, which reflects some Room Inspiration.

Apart from traveling, I like window shopping or drooling over the magazines as I think these resources are highly inspirational.

The author explains, “I started designing my home office a few weeks ago, my jumping off point for my design were some curtains I had drooled over at Anthropologie. While normally I would not spend that kind of money on curtains, THIS time, it was worth it to me.”

The intention of the author is to describe that sometimes we end up spending money on something that we usually stay away from. If anything worth giving a try, it should be implemented as it will always be a learning experience.

Prefab Houses with Lowest Possible Price and Highest Environmental Features

I read a post about improved prefab house by Alexandria Abramian Mott at ElleDecor.com and I found it quite interesting. Building a low-carbon house is quite costly because of involvement of certain aspects such as gray water systems, photovoltaics, and appliances that are controlled by iPhones.

However, there are new types of prefab houses that are less costly, but full of utility. With this type of housing, one can get highest environment friendliness, but the price is low.

The author mentioned – “Last month, Santa Monica-based LivingHomes debuted its latest model, the C6, in Long Beach, California. The 1,232-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bath house takes two months to construct and just one day to install on-site. Total price: $179,000 in most states.”

The cost of the housing facility of 1,232 square foot with such amenities is almost half the price of other prefab home models. These C6 homes have got inspiration from Joe Eichler, who built some fabulous low cost homes in California during the 50’s and 60’s.

Some of the features of these prefab homes include VOC free paints, wood ceilings, cork floors, numerous sliding doors to the courtyard and backyard, etc.

Specialized Treatments for Bathroom Wall and Ceilings

Various types of materials are used in bathroom wall and ceilings. You can try wood, plaster, mortar beds, backer boards or drywall.

Recently I read a post on bathroom wall and ceilings on Bathroomwall.com. The blog puts light on some specialized treatments and materials that can be used for modern bathroom wall decoration.

What I liked about the post is that before going on with the details of specialized treatments and materials, the author described about the importance of checking the structure of ceilings and walls. Covered drywall and batt insulated 2x stud walls are important for standard construction.

Importance of using drywall

For the bathrooms, it is essential to install moisture resistant drywall. These walls come with green paper covering and thus these are also named as green-board. The inclusion of asphalt emulsions in the core of gypsum makes these bathroom wall and ceilings water resistant.

Usage of mortar beds and backer boards

“In wet areas under a tile installation, like in a shower surround, a cement-based backer board or a traditional floated mortar bed should be used rather than MR drywall,” says the author.

Moisture resistant material is not always sufficient for the installation of bathroom ceilings and walls. I personally think that using fiber-mesh cement backer board is light in comparison to the customary mortar bed. Most importantly, they do not change shape with the change of humidity or temperature.

Usage of Plaster

Many people use plaster to cover wall and ceiling because the installation is easy. The look is different from the dry walls. If you opt for three-coat plaster for bathroom wall and ceilings then it can be expensive to standard drywall.

The author has described this in details- “Traditional three-coat plaster—consisting of an initial scratch coat to adhere to the lath, a brown coat that levels the surface, and a finish coat—is labor-intensive and thus expensive, typically costing at least twice as much to install per square foot as standard drywall.”

Wood usage

Last but not the least, you can also use wood for surfacing wall. These are durable and sophisticated.

Every weekend we arrange a party with friends in the nearby club and we used too discuss new topics. Now I will share information on the major type of stickers that are available in the market and how you should use them.

I had a lot of choice of wall stickers for kid to decorate my little John’s room, but finally decided to go for the sticker that feature toy items, mostly the teddy bears, because he is very fond of this animal. Recently I was looking for kids room ideas and read an article that touched my heart. Once your kid is moved into a regular bed, you should start planning for the first change.” It is true that we see our children to grow from a bud to a full-blossomed flower and of course, with maturation their need and requirements changes a lot.

It is good for my little girl as she executes the same mentality. I also support that it is good to use different color scheme to decorate the rooms of these types of kids. Changing a table will up date the room in a different way. I must use big tables, instead of the small ones so that the kid can arrange his or her necessary items properly. I like using colorful pictures as best kids room ideas. However, it was not known to me properly how I should use the pictures or what types of pictures should be used.

Then I read “If you want some colorful pictures, you might consider fun pictures from magazines that can be cut out and then made into a decoupage masterpiece. You can use a small white piece of poster board for the background and then use various colored frames, again blending perfectly with the room”. Oh yes. Children magazines are the best place to find out preferable pictures that I can use as Kids room ideas to decorate a wall. Instead of pasting the pictures directly on the walls, it is better to make an art pieces with the pictures that will be more appealing. However, it is important to choose the color of the frame according to the color of the room.
