In this article I will share my view of color trends for 2012 that I have learned. Color trends will help my reader to decorate homes uniquely.

Recently I went through an article written by Kathryn Weber for the site getdecorating.com where the author has explained a few color themes to decorate homes fir this summer. I liked the author’s comment where she says “With 2012 fast approaching, why not paint with the colors that are going to be trending next year instead of the ones on their way out this year? Besides being ahead of the color curve, you’ll give your sisters in law something to talk about over the turkey”.

It really appeared as a great comment for me. I think if I follow the color trends of 2012, I will be able to stay ahead of my competitors in the terms of painting. I think we should go for the colors that not only will surpass the color scheme of yester years but also will remains as the standard color scheme for the coming years as well. My visitors will be pleased enough with this new way of decoration and will get a new topic to discuss with.

To choose a color

Author says “choosing a color should be a process of heart not the head. Too often what we think is the right color might not feel on the way once it’s on wall. The key finding a color that suits you is to find one that that you gravitate towards in fashion” I support the authors view. Of course it is important to choose a color by the eyes of brain, not that of the heart. It is a very common incident that what your brain says will be the right color for the room actually appears very dull on the wall.

That is why I have decided to listen to my heart to color my rooms following the color trends of 2012. I also think that we should go for the colors that suit the theme and the purpose of the decoration in true sense. My colors trends for 2012 should match perfectly with the fashion statement of home decoration of the year. That is why I will change the color of my old red closet with something that will be perfect for 2012.

Metal as a color

As I am personally fond of metallic colors and I voted for the authors comment in the website. “Metals will continue to shine in 2012 but with soft matte overtones. Brushed gold will shine next year bringing a golden versus shiny glow. Metallic and pearlized colors will be found in home accessories and fashion alike”.

I was observing from a long time that people are getting interested about the metallic colors that look great for home decoration. However, I think that for color trends of 2012 metallic colors will be the hot favorite. If we use a kind of matt overtones with the metal base, believe me it will rock. Metallic colors are not only good to create an appeal on the walls but also cool enough to color home accessories as well.
